Send information to Fleetio

  Prerequisites

Creating a job Send information to Fleetio requires the following:

  • the Manage account access right to the account in which the unit is stored;
  • the Edit non mentioned properties and View detailed object properties access rights to the unit;
  • activated service Fleetio in account properties;
  • filled VIN field in the Profile tab in the unit properties;
  • filled token fields in the Connection to Fleetio section in the account properties.
  • a created vehicle in Fleetio according to instructions below.

The creator of the resource where the job is to be stored must also have the View detailed object properties and Edit non mentioned properties access rights to the unit.

The Send information to Fleetio job allows transferring data such as unit location, fuel levels, and counter readings from Wialon to the Fleetio system. This article provides a process for creating vehicles in Fleetio and setting up a job to send the data from Wialon to Fleetio.

Creating a vehicle in Fleetio

To transfer unit data from Wialon, it is necessary to create a vehicle in the Fleetio system. To do this, follow the next steps:

  1. Log in to your Fleetio account.
  2. Open the Vehicle list tab on the left side of the screen.
  3. Click Add vehicle.
  4. On the Details tab, fill in the Vehicle name and VIN/SN fields.
  5. On the Settings tab select measurement units for meters. To successfully send data, the measurement units of the primary and secondary meter in Fleetio must match the measurement units selected for unit counters in Wialon.
  6. If necessary, fill in the vehicle data on the other tabs and save the changes.

After that create a job Send information to Fleetio in Wialon.

Creating a job " Send information to Fleetio "

To create a job of this type, do the following:

  1. Follow steps 1-3 of the instructions for creating jobs.
  2. Select the type of data you want to send to Fleetio.
  3. Select the units or group of units for which you want to create a job.

    If the VIN field on the Profile tab is not filled in the unit properties, the data of this unit will not be sent to Fleetio. An icon is shown in the line of such a unit. For a unit group, the list of units without VIN is shown in the tooltip to the icon.

  4. Click Next.
  5. Specify the parameters for completing the job.

    It is advisable to send data no more frequently than once every 4 hours.

    At this point, you can specify an email address. If an error occurs when sending information to Fleetio, you will receive a message to the address you entered. Enable the option to enter the address to which you want to receive messages.

  6. Click OK.

Data types to send to Fleetio

You can send information about the unit location, fuel, and data from the primary and secondary meters to the Fleetio system.

Location

When enabled, this option allows you to send information about the location of a unit. The coordinates from the last message that contains location data are sent to Fleetio.

When the job is triggered, the location is shown on the Overview tab of the vehicle.

Fuel

For sending fuel level data, the selection of the primary meter below is mandatory.

If this option is enabled, the last valid fuel level value at the time the job is triggered is transmitted. If the unit has several fuel level sensors, their values are summarized and transmitted to Fleetio.

After the job is triggered, fuel information is available on the More tab of of the vehicle. To see this information, select Fuel History from the drop-down list.

Primary meter

You can select a mileage or an engine hour meter as the primary meter to send data to Fleetio.

Selecting the Mileage option transmits the current value of the unit's mileage counter.

When the Engine hours option is selected, the current value of the engine hours counter is transmitted. The data is taken from the General tab of the unit properties.

Secondary meter

You can select the mileage or the engine hour meter as a secondary meter. You can select the same values for the primary and secondary meters.

When the job is triggered, the data of the primary and secondary meters are available on the More tab of the vehicle. To see them, select Meter History from the drop-down list.
