Backup server

The Hot backup software distribution is installed to provide online data backup. It is advisable to install and activate this distribution on a server which is different from the one where your operating Wialon Local is started.

The backup server must run the same version of Wialon Local as the primary server. If the backup server is running an older version, you must upgrade it sequentially through each version to match the primary server before starting synchronization.

The backup server fully replicates the Wialon Local databases (the storage directory) in real time. You can use multiple backup servers at the same time without additional licensing.

In the administration system interface, you can quickly switch the backup server to the primary mode and vice versa.

To back up maps, administration system settings, or other required files, you can add the lsyncd utility which quickly synchronizes file changes on the local and remote servers. In particular, you can use it to restore maps because you cannot restore them in the Backup servers section.
