Notifications (NEW)
This page describes the redesigned notification system with updated combining logic, flexible condition building blocks, and a new full-screen interface. If your account hasn’t been upgraded to the new notification system yet, refer to the previous version of the Notifications documentation.
In Wialon, a notification is a rule for a specific operational case (for example, speeding, entering/leaving a geofence, ignition changes, specific sensor values). It monitors the selected units (vehicles or assets) and, when the set conditions are met, performs one or more actions, for example, sends a command to the unit, sends an SMS, or sends an email.
Notification structure
A notification consists of three main parts: scope, conditions (trigger), and actions.
- Scope (what to monitor): the resource where the notification is stored, and the units or unit groups it applies to.
- Conditions (when to trigger): one or several conditions combined with AND (all conditions must be true) or/and OR (at least one condition must be true). You can also set limitations or a schedule to restrict when the logic is evaluated or how triggering occurs.
- Actions (what to do): what happens after triggering (for example, an email, SMS, command, or in-app notification is sent). Optional notification text is included only for actions that support message text.
