Creating geofence groups

Geofence groups are templates created by service providers in Wialon Platform Studio to standardize the properties (color, icon, and custom fields) of geofences for their customers. This ensures consistency and simplifies geofence creation for end-users. Each geofence must belong to a single group.

Geofence groups help you organize geofences and add consistent data in additional properties to them (for example, town names, contact details).

To define geofence groups:

1. In Wialon Platform Studio, navigate to the Customers section and select the customer.
2. Go to the Geofence groups tab.
3. Click Add.
4. In the new window:
   • Enter a Group name (for example, Warehouses).
   • (Optional): Select the icon and color that will be shown for all geofences within the group.
5. Click Add to create geofence additional properties and define the data fields for this group:
   • Provide a Name (for example, Manager).
   • Select a data type in the Type field (for example, String).
   • In the Default field, you can enter a default value.

Additional properties support three data types:

• String for text values
• Number for numerical values
• Integer for whole numbers

Now, when customers create new geofences in Wialon Platform FleetSpace, they can assign a group to the geofences to standardize their looks.
