Creating and editing tracking links

Where: Wialon Platform FleetSpace

On the Location share page in Wialon Platform FleetSpace, you can create and work with tracking links which you can share with external stakeholders.

To create a tracking link, follow these steps:

  1. In Wialon Platform FleetSpace, select the Location share tab in the sidebar.
  2. Click Add.
  3. Specify the link name.
  4. Enter a description, if needed.
  5. In the Activation time field, specify the time when the link must be activated.
  6. In the Life span field, specify the number of minutes, hours or days during which the link should be valid.
  7. If necessary, enable the toggles to display additional data which the external stakeholder can see.
Toggle Feature
Driver name Displays the driver’s name in the vehicle tooltip.
Driver phone Displays the driver’s phone in the vehicle tooltip.
Tracks Allows viewing the vehicle tracks for the last 24 hours.
  1. If needed, select additional device properties, which should be displayed in the vehicle tooltip. To do this, click Additional properties, select the required ones and click Add.
  2. Add the devices which should be available for tracking via the link. To do this, click Add, select up to 10 devices, click Add.
  3. Click Save.

The created link is added to the link list.

The link list is displayed as a table with the following columns:

Column Description
Name The name of the link. Below, the link description is displayed (if specified).

The link name is gray if the activation time hasn’t started yet, and blue if the link is already active.

If the link is already active, you can click on its name to open it in a separate tab of your browser.
Vehicle The name and icon of the vehicle for which the link is created. If it is created for multiple vehicles, this column shows their number. Hover over this number to see the list of the added vehicles.
Activation time The date and time of the link activation.
Expiration time The date and time when the link expires. Below, you can see how much time remains until the link expires and moves to the archive.
Last access The date and time when the link was last opened.
Created The date and time when the link was created. Below, you can see the name of the user who created it.

At the end of each row, there is an icon () which allows you to open the menu with the following actions:

  • open link (available only for active links)
  • copy URL
  • expire and archive

To resize a column, hover over its header and drag its border to set the width you need.

You can sort the links in the list by any column. Click a column header to sort in ascending order, and click again to sort in descending order. By default, the links are sorted by name in alphabetical order.

To edit a tracking link, click its row in the link list.

You can edit the following information:

  • link name
  • description
  • expiration time
  • extra data to display
  • additional properties
  • list of vehicles added for tracking

To apply the changes, click Save.
