Who can do it: Service provider, customer
Where: Wialon Platform FleetSpace
The Private use mode can be activated for a device either through a physical hardware switch in the vehicle or manually via the Manage private use widget in Wialon Platform FleetSpace. When activated, the device’s position data is hidden, ensuring privacy for personal use.
Enabling private use via hardware
If your device is equipped with a physical button or switch for private mode, activating this hardware control will enable private use, provided the Private use sensor is correctly configured in Wialon Platform Studio. See Configuring the Private use sensor for detailed instructions.
Enabling private use via a widget

Result of activating private mode
When private mode is activated, the following occurs:
- The device position data is hidden on the map and the address field.
- All GPS-dependent data (coordinates, course, satellite number, speed) is not registered in the system and can’t be restored.
- Features relying on GPS data, such as trips, parking, counters, driver behavior criteria, are not available.
- Presence within geofences is entirely undetectable.
- Both the device icon and the driver icon (if a driver is assigned to that device) appear striped.
- If the Private use (chip) widget is added to the workspace, it appears in the list or in the details page.
