Private use
The Private use feature allows you to switch a device into a mode where its position data is hidden for privacy. This is particularly useful when a vehicle is used for personal purposes and its location should not be tracked.
When private use is active, all GPS-dependent data (such as coordinates, course, satellite count, and speed) is no longer registered by the system and can’t be restored.
To keep mileage and engine hours accurate in private mode for maintenance, tax reporting, and settlements with drivers configure the Mileage counter and Engine hours counter sensors to use device parameters. Common mileage parameters used by many manufacturers include
vehicle.mileageandcan.vehicle.mileage.
Private mode can be enabled automatically with the Private mode sensor (if the device supports sending the required parameter) or using the automation actions Start private mode and End private mode. You can also turn it on manually from Wialon Platform FleetSpace using a dedicated widget.
This documentation section describes how to configure and activate the private use mode based on your role within the platform.
