Creating a new label

You can assign individual labels to devices. Add a new label to an existing group to make it exclusive or leave it as a standalone label that can be combined with others.

You can create labels in Wialon Platform Studio or on the Setup center page in Wialon Platform FleetSpace.

To create a label:

1. In Wialon Platform Studio, open the Customers page.

2. Select the desired customer.

3. Navigate to the Labels tab.

4. Click the New label button.

5. In the Name field, enter the name for the label (for example, Busy).

6. To make this an exclusive label, select the appropriate group from the Label group dropdown list (for example, Operational status). If you leave this as None, the label can be applied independently.

   Labels that are not assigned to any group are automatically placed in the Autonomous system group. You can’t change the name of this group. This group always appears at the top when sorting the table.

7. Click Save.

8. Repeat the process to create other labels as needed. For example, create a Free label and also assign it to the Operational status group.

The Vehicle type group is system-managed and can’t be edited or deleted.

Customer users can create and edit labels and add devices to them on the Labels tab of the Setup center page.

The Labels tab shows the label groups and the labels they contain, together with the devices that have these labels. Labels without a group are shown in the Autonomous labels group. To find a label, use the Search bar. You can search by label name and device name.

To create a label:

1. In the sidebar menu, select Setup center and open the Labels tab.
2. Click New label.
3. Enter the label name and select its color.
4. To make the label exclusive, select a group in the Label group field. If you don’t select a group, the label can be combined with other labels.
5. Click Save. The page of the new label opens.
6. To add devices to the label, open the Devices tab, click Add, and select the devices. You can select several devices at once.

To create a label directly in a group, you can also use the Labels tab of the group. See Creating a label group.

To edit a label, click its row on the Labels tab of the Setup center page. You can do the following:

• On the General tab, change the name, color, and group of the label. A label that has devices can’t be moved to another group.
• On the Devices tab, add devices to the label or remove them. To remove a device, click the button next to it. The number next to the tab name shows how many devices have this label.
• To move the label to another group or delete it, use the menu in the page header. You can also do this from the label row in the list.

Click Save to apply the changes.

Deleting a label doesn’t delete the devices. They only lose this label. If the label is used in automations, the system warns you before deleting it.

The changes are shown everywhere the labels are used: in the device list filters, reports, automations, and in Wialon Platform Studio.

System labels and labels from system groups, such as Vehicle type, can’t be edited or deleted. You can add devices to them or remove devices from them.
