A
Action template
A pre-configured action in Wialon Platform Studio that can be executed by an automation. Examples include sending an email, assigning a label, creating a service, or executing a command. Action templates are linked to automations to define what happens when the automation conditions are met.
Additional properties
Custom data fields that a service provider can create in Wialon Platform Studio to capture specific, structured information for devices, drivers, or maintenance services. For example, a service provider can add a field like License expiry date for drivers, which the customer can then fill out in Wialon Platform FleetSpace.

Anchor
Fixed hardware installed in a building at a known point. Anchors detect the tags nearby in the Wirepas Mesh network. The platform determines the position of an asset by the set of anchors that detect its tag. Each anchor must be placed on the floor plan at the point where it’s installed, otherwise the platform can’t use its data.

API playground
An interactive tool that allows service providers and developers to execute API requests for both Wialon Platform Studio and Wialon Platform FleetSpace. It serves as a testing and reference environment for integrating with the platform or automating administrative and operational tasks.
App binary
The installation file generated for a white-labeled app: AAB for Android and IPA for iOS. Service providers download the binaries in Wialon Platform Studio and upload them to Google Play and the Apple App Store under their own developer accounts.
App branding
The set of visual settings of a white-labeled app: the app icon, the logos for the light and dark modes, and the primary colors. The branding settings are the same for Wialon Driver and Wialon Platform and are configured for each build on the Sites and apps page in Wialon Platform Studio.
Asset
An item tracked inside a building with the Indoor module: equipment, tools, furniture, vehicles, and so on. An asset is tracked only after you pair it with a tag.
Asset category
A group of assets with similar purpose, for example, Portable equipment or Stationary equipment. Categories are created on the Categories tab of the Assets page in Wialon Platform FleetSpace and are used for filtering and searching. An asset without its own icon and color is shown with the icon and color of its category.
Audit log
A chronological record of all actions performed within a specific part of the platform (like a customer account, a device, or a map service). It tracks what action was performed, who performed it, and when, providing a detailed history for security, troubleshooting, and compliance purposes.
Automation
A rule created in Wialon Platform Studio that triggers a predefined action or set of actions based on specific conditions. Automations are used to streamline fleet operations by automating responses to events like a device entering a geofence, a sensor value changing, or a service becoming due.

Billing plan
A predefined package of features that a service provider assigns to a customer in Wialon Platform Studio. The billing plan determines which modules and capabilities are available to the customer in Wialon Platform FleetSpace. Two billing plans are available: Fleet digitalization and Indoor.

Build
A version of a white-labeled app generated from the saved branding and app configuration. Builds of Wialon Driver and Wialon Platform are listed on their own tabs of the Sites and apps page with one of the statuses: In edit, In progress, Completed, or Error. The most recent build for each platform is marked with the Latest chip.
Building and managing app versions
Building
A digital copy of a real building in the Indoor module. It contains one or more floors with uploaded floor plans. One customer can have several buildings.

Bundle ID (package name)
The unique identifier of a white-labeled app in the app stores (for example, com.yourcompany.driver). For Android, it’s suggested automatically based on the app name and can’t be changed later. For iOS, it must match the identifier registered in the Apple Developer account.

Channel
A configuration in Wialon Platform Studio that defines how data is sent from telematics devices to the platform. It acts as a data conduit, listening for incoming connections from specific device protocols.

Chip
A small interface element in Wialon Platform FleetSpace used to display concise information directly on a device row in a list or within its detailed view. Chips are often used to show real-time status (like motion or connection status), a specific sensor value (Sensor chip), or assigned labels. They are configured by a service provider using editor mode.

CNAME
A CNAME (Canonical name) record is a type of DNS record that maps an alias name (like fleet.yourcompany.com) to a true or canonical domain name. In Wialon Platform Studio, a CNAME record is used to verify that you own the custom domain you want to use for a white-labeled site.
Command template
A reusable configuration in Wialon Platform Studio that standardizes commands for different device models. It allows a service provider to define a command once and include variations for multiple hardware types within a single template.
Connection loss
An event that occurs when a device fails to send data to the server for a specified duration. It is used as a trigger for automations to notify users about potential device issues.

Criterion (Driver behavior)
A specific rule created in Wialon Platform Studio to define and measure a particular aspect of driver behavior, such as speeding or harsh acceleration. Each criterion includes a weight, metrics, and a scoring system to evaluate performance.
Customer
A client account managed by a service provider in Wialon Platform Studio. Customers and their users log in to Wialon Platform FleetSpace to manage their fleet.
Customer template
A reusable configuration in Wialon Platform Studio that allows a service provider to quickly create new customer accounts with predefined settings for modules, labels, automations, geofences, and more.
Customer user
A user of Wialon Platform FleetSpace who manages the fleet in the customer account. Customer users are created by the service provider in Studio and have specific permissions for devices, drivers, entities, and workspaces.

Dashboard (FleetSpace)
A customizable page in Wialon Platform FleetSpace. It consists of widgets that provide a high-level overview of fleet performance, including metrics on driver behavior, maintenance, trips, and device status.

Data mirroring
A feature that allows a service provider to copy raw device data from an existing Wialon Hosting account and redirect it to a Wialon Platform channel, facilitating migration.

Developer account
A tab on the Sites and apps page in Wialon Platform Studio where the credentials for signing and publishing white-labeled apps are stored: the Android keystore, the iOS distribution certificate, and the Firebase service account key. These credentials are configured once and apply to all builds.
Device
A digital representation of a physical GPS tracker, sensor, or other telematics hardware installed on an asset (like a vehicle or trailer). It is the core entity in the system that receives, processes, and stores all transmitted data. You can change the term device to the preferred term for the customer interface.
Distribution certificate
The iOS certificate (.p12 file) used to sign the builds of a white-labeled app for the Apple App Store. It’s generated in the Apple Developer account and uploaded in the iOS section of the Developer account tab.
Driver behavior
A module used to define and configure criteria for evaluating driver performance. It allows service providers to set standards for actions like speeding, harsh braking, and acceleration, and then score drivers based on their adherence to these standards in Wialon Platform Studio.

Editor mode
A special mode in Wialon Platform FleetSpace that allows a service provider (when logged in as a customer) to customize the user interface. In editor mode, you can add, remove, rename, and reorder pages in the sidebar menu, and configure the layout and content of pages by adding and arranging chips and widgets.

Firebase service account key
The JSON file with the credentials that allow white-labeled apps to send push notifications. It’s generated in Firebase Console and uploaded in the Firebase section of the Developer account tab. The key applies to push notifications in all your apps.
Floor
A level within a building, represented by a scaled floor plan image. You place anchors and gateways on the floor plan and draw zones on it. Each floor has a level (a short label such as 1, B1, or Ground) that must be unique within the building.

Form
A digital form that guides a driver or user through a series of steps to inspect a vehicle condition or complete other operational tasks across the company. Forms are used to replace paper forms, improve maintenance processes, ensure safety compliance, and increase driver accountability. Forms are created in Wialon Platform Studio and can be filled in Wialon Platform FleetSpace.
Form template
A reusable configuration for a form that defines its basic properties, questions, and assignment rules. Service providers create templates in Wialon Platform Studio to standardize inspections for different needs.

Gateway
Hardware that sends data from anchors and tags to the platform. Unlike anchors and tags, a gateway isn’t created automatically: you must create it in the account before the platform can process data from it. The platform identifies the customer by the gateway, so data from an unknown gateway is ignored.

Geofence
A virtual territory drawn on the map in Wialon Platform FleetSpace to represent a specific area, such as a warehouse, customer site, or restricted zone. Geofences are used for location-based monitoring, reporting, and triggering automations.

A template created by a service provider in Wialon Platform Studio to standardize the appearance (color, icon) and additional properties of geofences created by their customers.
I
Ident
A unique value used to link a physical piece of hardware to its digital representation in Wialon Platform Studio. For most GPS trackers, this is the IMEI number. For some types of hardware and the Tacho Bridge application, it’s a custom value that you set yourself. In the Indoor module, anchors, gateways, and tags also have idents. The ident of a gateway starts with BTGW-. The platform uses the ident to recognize which device is sending data.
Identity provider
An external service that manages user identities and provides authentication, allowing users to log in to Wialon Platform using their existing credentials from another system, for example, Google or Microsoft.

Indoor asset tracking
A module that lets you find assets inside buildings, where GPS isn’t reliable: factories, hospitals, rental depots, airports, and other large facilities. Instead of satellite positioning, it uses Teltonika hardware with Wirepas Mesh support: anchors, gateways, and tags. The module is available to a customer with the Indoor billing plan, which can be assigned only when you create the customer.

Keystore
The Android file with the release key used to sign the builds of a white-labeled app for the Google Play Store. It’s uploaded together with the keystore password, the key alias, and the key password in the Android section of the Developer account tab. If the keystore or the passwords are lost, the app can’t be updated in the store.

Label
An individual marker that can be assigned to a device to indicate its type, attribute, or status (for example, Truck, Busy, Requires maintenance) in Wialon Platform FleetSpace. Labels are used for filtering, visualization, reporting, and in action templates for automations.
Label group
A container in Wialon Platform Studio used to group exclusive labels, ensuring a device can only have one label from the set at a time. For example, a Vehicle type group could contain the labels Car and Truck, and a vehicle could be one but not both.
Location share
A feature in Wialon Platform FleetSpace that allows users to create and share temporary, secure web links that show the real-time location of one or more devices to external stakeholders.

Logical expression
The most flexible type of automation rule in Wialon Platform Studio. It uses parameter expressions to create complex, multi-layered conditions based on any available telemetry data (for example, speed > 90 AND engine_rpm > 3000).

Maintenance
A module for managing and tracking vehicle servicing. It includes features for creating individual service tasks and setting up recurring service plans based on mileage, engine hours, or time intervals. The features are configured in Wialon Platform FleetSpace.
Messages
The processed data packets received from a device, displayed in a readable format in Wialon Platform Studio. Messages contain telemetry information such as coordinates, speed, and sensor values.
Messages TTL (Time to live)
A setting in the channel configuration in Wialon Platform Studio that determines how long messages are stored in the channel buffer before they expire and are deleted. This acts as a safeguard to prevent the system from being overloaded with old, unprocessed data from devices.

Packet
The raw, unprocessed data transmitted by a telematics device to the Wialon Platform. The Packets tab in the device properties in Wialon Platform Studio allows service providers to view this raw data (in HEX, RAW or SHOWN format) for debugging and troubleshooting connection or data parsing issues.
Page
A section accessible from the sidebar menu. For example, Dashboard, Devices and Reports in Wialon Platform FleetSpace and Customers, Devices and Map services in Wialon Platform Studio. Service providers can customize which pages are visible to users in Wialon Platform FleetSpace.

Parameter monitoring
A feature for tracking and analyzing specific data parameters received from devices. It involves using chips and widgets to visualize telemetry data in Wialon Platform FleetSpace.
Permission
A specific access right configured in Wialon Platform Studio that defines what a user is allowed to see and do in Wialon Platform FleetSpace. Permissions are granted for different categories, such as devices, drivers, and specific features (entities), and control actions like viewing data, creating new items, updating properties, or deleting records.
Placeholder
A dynamic variable that can be inserted into the text of certain automation actions, such as email or online notifications. When an automation is triggered, the placeholder is automatically replaced with real-time data corresponding to the event. Examples include device_name, address, speed, and geofences.

Post-processing channels
A setting in the channel configuration in Wialon Platform Studio that allows you to forward the data received by one channel to one or more other channels. This is an advanced feature used for complex data routing scenarios, such as sending raw data to one channel for storage and a processed version to another.

Private use
A feature that allows drivers to temporarily hide their real-time location and movement history to protect their privacy during non-working hours. When activated, the system stops recording location data for the selected device. The feature can be enabled manually by the driver or user in Wialon Platform FleetSpace or automatically based on a signal from a physical switch in the vehicle connected to the telematics device.
Provisioning profile
The iOS file (.mobileprovision) that links a white-labeled app to the developer account and devices. It must include all the capabilities required for the app, such as in-app purchase, push notifications, and communication notifications.
Q
Queue TTL (Time to live)
A setting in the stream configuration in Wialon Platform Studio that defines how long a data message will be held in a temporary queue if it cannot be immediately delivered to the destination server. After this time expires, the message is discarded. This prevents the queue from filling up with undeliverable data.

Realm
A unique identifier of the customer account required to log in to the Wialon Platform mobile app and Wialon Driver. It’s entered on the login screen together with the login and password. The realm is saved on the device, so for the next logins only the login and password are required.
Customer users can find the realm on the Settings page in Wialon Platform FleetSpace and on the Settings screen in the mobile app. Drivers get it from their fleet manager together with the other credentials.
Role
A predefined set of permissions in Wialon Platform Studio that determines what a service provider user can see and do in Studio. Roles are assigned when inviting users to the service provider account and define the user access level, for example, Administrator, Operations manager, Customer specialist, or Viewer.

Scope
A permission string (or a list of strings) requested from an identity provider during login via OAuth 2.0. Scopes define what user information the Wialon Platform FleetSpace site is allowed to access to identify the user (for example, reading a public profile).
Scopes are configured in Wialon Platform Studio on the Sites page, in the site settings on the Identity provider tab for OAuth 2.0.

Score
A numerical rating from 0 to 100 that evaluates a driver performance based on predefined criteria. The score is calculated using a score mapping system, where specific violations reduce the score from 100.

Score mapping
A feature within the driver behavior criterion settings in Wialon Platform Studio. It defines the relationship between a measured violation metric (for example, the number of speeding incidents per 100 km) and the resulting driver score (from 100 for best to 0 for worst). The system uses this mapping to calculate a driver performance score based on their recorded behavior.
Sensor
A configuration in Wialon Platform Studio that converts raw data from a device into human-readable values that can be visualized in Wialon Platform FleetSpace. It uses a formula to process one or more raw data parameters, apply mathematical or logical operations, and produce a calculated result. For example, an advanced sensor could check if the vehicle speed is greater than zero and, if true, report the engine coolant temperature.

A reusable sensor configuration created in Wialon Platform Studio. Sensor templates can be included in telemetry presets to be applied to multiple devices, ensuring consistent data processing for the same type of hardware across a fleet.

Service
An individual maintenance task that is either created manually in Wialon Platform FleetSpace or generated automatically from a service plan or an automation.
Service plan
A template for creating recurring maintenance services in Wialon Platform FleetSpace. A service plan defines the intervals (based on mileage, engine hours, or days) that trigger the automatic creation of a service task.

Service provider user
A user of Wialon Platform Studio who manages customers, devices, and platform settings. Service provider users are invited to Studio and have a role that defines their access level.

Settings polling
A setting in the device properties in Wialon Platform Studio that determines how frequently the platform should check for or push an updated configuration to the physical device. Options like daily or weekly allow you to periodically synchronize settings between the platform and the hardware.
Site (White-labeling)
A feature in Wialon Platform Studio that allows a service provider to create a white-labeled version of the platform accessible via a custom URL (for example, fleet.yourcompany.com). This enables the service provider to offer the fleet management solution under their own brand.
Stream
A configuration in Wialon Platform Studio that allows data from Wialon Platform to be sent to other external systems or endpoints in real-time.

Tachograph control
A module designed for managing data from digital tachographs. It allows service providers to configure remote downloads of driver card and vehicle unit files (.DDD files), manage company card information for authentication, and monitor the status of tacho-enabled devices.

Tag
A small wireless device attached to an asset that you want to track in the Indoor module. A tag sends a signal in the Wirepas Mesh network, the anchors installed in the building detect it, and the platform determines the position of the asset. Tags are added to the account automatically once the connected gateway starts sending their data.
Task
An incident or event that requires special attention and handling, such as an SOS signal, a critical vehicle fault, or a failed form. Tasks are typically created automatically by automations and are managed in the Task desk.
Task desk
The page in Wialon Platform FleetSpace where customer users can view, manage, and resolve tasks. It provides a centralized dashboard for tracking events from creation to resolution.
Telemetry preset
A reusable configuration that defines a standard set of sensors and data collection rules, configured in Wialon Platform Studio. Telemetry presets can be linked to specific device models, ensuring that all new devices of that type are automatically configured with the same sensors, which streamlines the device onboarding process.
TLS (Transport Layer Security)
An encryption protocol used to secure data transmission between a telematics device and a Wialon Platform channel. When TLS is enabled for a channel, it ensures that all data sent from the device to the platform is encrypted, protecting it from being intercepted or read by unauthorized parties.

Track player
A tool in Wialon Platform FleetSpace that provides a visual replay of a device movement history on the map. It allows users to select a time interval and watch the device track being redrawn, showing the sequence of events, speed changes, and stops. The track player is essential for investigating incidents, analyzing past trips, and reviewing a vehicle activity in detail.
Trip detection
A set of parameters that define the logic for identifying and recording trips, configured in Wialon Platform Studio. These settings, such as minimum moving speed, minimum parking time, and minimum trip distance, determine how the system distinguishes between actual trips, stops, and idling events.

Wialon Driver
The mobile application for drivers. It allows drivers to view and submit assigned forms, contributing to daily fleet operations and maintenance records. Don’t confuse it with the Wialon Platform mobile app, which is designed for fleet managers and other customer users.
Wialon Platform FleetSpace
The application designed for end-customers (fleets) to perform daily business operations. It includes tools for online fleet monitoring, analyzing statistics, managing drivers, viewing reports, and more. For the customers with the Indoor billing plan, it opens with the indoor pages instead of the fleet ones: Live View, Buildings, Assets, and Tags.
Wialon Platform mobile app
The mobile application for iOS and Android that gives customer users access to their fleet on the go: device locations on the map, telemetry and sensor data, historical tracks, and push notifications about automation events. Devices, workspaces, and other settings are configured by the service provider in Wialon Platform Studio and Wialon Platform FleetSpace on the web. For the customers with the Indoor billing plan, the app opens with the indoor screens: Live View, Assets, and More.
Wialon Platform Studio
The application designed for telematics service providers. It is used to manage customers, create user accounts, configure devices and data channels, and set up and customize applications for end-customers.
Widget
A configurable block of information that can be added to pages in Wialon Platform FleetSpace, most notably the Dashboard, the Devices and the Drivers online pages. Widgets are used to visualize real-time data (for example, a sensor value or connection status), provide quick actions, like executing a command, or display summary charts and metrics about the fleet.
Workspace
The highest-level container for customizing the user experience in Wialon Platform FleetSpace and in the Wialon Platform mobile app. A workspace defines the entire layout, including the sidebar menu, available pages, and the arrangement of widgets on those pages. Different workspaces can be created and assigned to different users to provide tailored interfaces for various roles (for example, a dispatcher or a manager).

Z
Zone
An area on the floor plan, such as a room, an office, or a workshop. Zones are used in the Indoor module only. When an asset is inside a zone, the platform shows the zone name in the asset list and in the asset details. For the areas on the map used to monitor devices, see Geofence.
