Emissions
The Emissions module helps service providers and their customers track, analyze, and report fleet CO2 equivalent (CO2e) emissions.
Configuring and using the module includes the following steps:
- Enabling the “Emissions” module for a customer: Include the module in the customer billing plan and enable permissions for the customer users.
- Viewing emissions settings: View available emission factor datasets with conversion coefficients for different fuel types.
- Configuring customer emissions settings: Select which emission factors apply to a customer’s fleet for a given calendar year.
- Managing device properties: Set fuel type and normative fuel consumption for individual devices.
- Configuring emissions Dashboard widgets: Add emissions widgets to the Dashboard page in FleetSpace to visualize CO2e data.
How emissions calculation works
The platform calculates Scope 1 CO2e emissions (CO2, CH4, N2O in CO2-equivalent) for each device by combining three data points:
- Fuel consumption — recorded by the device or derived from normative consumption values set in the device properties.
- Fuel type — specified in the device properties (for example, Diesel, Petrol, LNG, or LPG).
- Emission factor — the CO2e conversion coefficient from the emission factor dataset assigned to the customer.
The emission factor dataset defines how many kilograms of CO2 equivalent (kg CO2e) are produced per unit of fuel consumed, broken down by gas type (CO2, CH4, and N2O).
