Creating a label group

A group is a set of exclusive labels, meaning a device can only belong to one label from that group at a time. For example, a Vehicle status group might contain the labels Free, Busy, and In maintenance. A device can be in only one of these states at once. The same device can be assigned another label only from another group, for example, Truck label from the Vehicle type group.

You can create label groups in Wialon Platform Studio or on the Setup center page in Wialon Platform FleetSpace.

To create a label group:

1. In Wialon Platform Studio, open the Customers page.
2. Select the desired customer.
3. Go to the Labels tab.
4. Click the New label group button.
5. Enter a descriptive name for the group (for example, Operational status).
6. Click Save.

Customer users can create label groups and add labels to them on the Labels tab of the Setup center page.

To create a label group:

1. In the sidebar menu, select Setup center and open the Labels tab.
2. Click New label group.
3. Enter the group name.
4. Click Save and continue. The page of the new group opens.
5. Open the Labels tab and add labels to the group in one of the following ways:
   • To create a new label in the group, click New label, enter the name, and select the color. Click Save to close the window, or Save and continue to create another label.
   • To add an existing label, click Existing label and select the labels. You can add only labels that have no devices and aren’t system labels.

To edit a group, click its row on the Labels tab of the Setup center page. You can change the group name on the General tab and add or remove labels on the Labels tab. The number next to the tab name shows how many labels the group contains. When you remove a label from the group, the label isn’t deleted. It moves to the Autonomous labels group.

To delete a group, click the icon in the page header or in the group row in the list and select Delete.

System groups, such as Vehicle type, can’t be edited or deleted. The Autonomous labels group contains labels without a group and can’t be opened.
