Viewing private use status of devices
Who can do it: Service provider, customer
Where: Wialon Platform FleetSpace
When a device is in private use mode, its position data is hidden to ensure privacy. However, you can still view its private use status in various sections of Wialon Platform FleetSpace.
On device and driver lists or detail pages
When a device is in private use mode, its status is visually indicated in the Devices tab, Drivers online tab, or on the individual device and driver detail pages (depending on your workspace configuration).
- Striped icon: Both the device icon and the driver icon (if a driver is assigned to that device) appear striped.
- Private use (chip) widget: If the Private use (chip) widget is added to your workspace, it will appear on the list row or on the details page, indicating the active private mode.
On the map
When a device is in private use, its real-time location is not displayed on the map. Instead, you can view only the device last known position before private mode was activated. For that, click on the icon
on the right side on the map and enable the Show last known position before private mode toggle.
In timelines
You can observe the periods when a device was in private use by reviewing the timelines available in:
- Device details: Navigate to the details page of a specific device and check its timeline. The private use mode is visible on the Geofences, Trips and parkings timelines.
- Driver details: Navigate to the details page of a specific driver and check their timeline. The private use mode is visible if the Show private mode toggle is enabled for the driver timeline.
- Track player: Use the track player feature to review historical data. Periods of private use will be indicated, showing gaps in GPS-dependent data.
