Configuring private use widgets

Who can do it: Service provider
Where: Wialon Platform FleetSpace

After enabling the Private use module for a customer, you can configure widgets in Wialon Platform FleetSpace to allow customers to manage and view the private use status of their devices. There are two types of private use widgets you can add: Manage private use (an action widget) and Private use (chip) (a status widget).

You can add these widgets to the following sections:

  • Device list
  • Device details
  • Driver list
  • Driver details

To configure private use widgets, follow these steps:

Step 1: Enable the editor mode

To customize the user interface, you must first enable the editor mode. This is done by logging in from your service provider account as the customer.

  1. Log in to Wialon Platform FleetSpace as the customer.
  2. Navigate to the Devices or Driver online tab.
    • To customize the list view, stay on this tab.
    • To customize a details page, click on a specific device or driver.
  3. Click on the service provider name in the bottom-left corner.
  4. Ensure the correct workspace is selected. If you need to create a new workspace, see the guide on setting up a workspace.
  5. Enable the Editor mode toggle.
  6. Follow the instructions for adding Manage private use or Private use (chip) widgets.

Step 2: Add the “Manage private use” action

Action widgets allow users to perform specific operations. The Manage private use widget enables users to switch between private, business, and forced business modes.

  1. Click on the icon three dots icon or plus icon in the top right corner of a list row or a card.
  2. Select the Manage private use widget.
  3. Click on the icon floppy disk icon.
  4. Click Save.

Step 3: Add the “Private use (chip)” widget

Chips are small widgets that display concise information, usually status. The Private use (chip) widget shows when private use mode is active and allows users to disable it or enable a forced business mode.

  1. Check if a Chip view container already exists on the page. If not, click Add widget at the bottom of the page and select Chip view. Then, click Save to add the Chip view container.
  2. Click the tag-sized Add widget button within the Chip view container.
  3. Select Private use from the list.
  4. Click on the icon floppy disk icon.
  5. Click Save.

Step 4: Assign the workspace to a customer user

After configuring the workspace, you must grant the customer user permission to access it.

  1. Log in to Wialon Platform Studio.
  2. Navigate to the Customers section from the main menu.
  3. Select the required customer from the list.
  4. Go to the Users tab within the customer’s details.
  5. Click on the user’s row to open their details and go to the Permissions tab.
  6. Click on the Workspaces section.
  7. Ensure that the workspace you configured in Wialon Platform FleetSpace is selected for this user.
  8. Click Save to apply any changes to the user’s permissions.

Now, when this user logs in to FleetSpace with their credentials, the private use widgets you’ve configured will be available in their workspace.
