Driver card files and vehicle unit files

The reports are built from two types of files, so they complement each other:

  • Driver card files are downloaded from the card of a driver and show what this driver did. The regulations require you to download them at least every 28 days.
  • Vehicle unit files are downloaded from the tachograph of a vehicle and show what happened with the vehicle, including the periods when no driver card was inserted. The regulations require you to download them at least every 90 days.

The Gaps in data entries mean different things in the two reports that have them. In the Driver activity events report, a gap is a period not covered by the driver card files. In the Vehicle unit events report, it’s a period not covered by the vehicle unit files.

To check that both types of files are downloaded in time, use the Due dates tab.

The report period and all times in the results are shown in UTC, not in your account time zone. This matches the way tachographs record data, so the values can be compared with the original tachograph files.
