Mirroring devices from Wialon Hosting

If you have already configured hardware and units in a Wialon Hosting account, you can use account mirroring to redirect them to Wialon Platform. Mirroring copies raw device data from Wialon Hosting and directs it to a Wialon Platform channel, simplifying the migration process.

To use this feature, you must have a Wialon Hosting top account.

How to mirror an account

To mirror accounts with their devices, follow these steps:

  1. In Wialon Platform Studio, go to the Devices page.

  2. Navigate to the Data mirroring tab.

  3. Log in with the username and password of your Wialon Hosting top account.

  4. In the list of accounts, find the one you want to mirror. The list provides the following information:

    • Account: The names of the accounts in your Wialon Hosting system that are available to be mirrored.
    • Transmittable units: The number of devices (units) in the account that can be successfully migrated. A red warning icon appears if some units cannot be transmitted.
    • Children: The number of sub-accounts associated with the Wialon Hosting account.
    • Channels required: The number of channels that are already configured and ready to receive data from the devices in this account.
    • Channels to create: The number of new channels that the platform will automatically create to receive data if the mirroring process is initiated.
    • Compatibility: A green checkmark that confirms the account is compatible for migration.
  5. Click Mirror to copy the account with all compatible devices.

You can’t send commands to mirrored devices.

After a successful mirroring, the following items are created automatically:

  • A new customer with the same name as the Wialon Hosting account. You can find it on the Customers page.
  • The necessary channels for data reception.
  • All compatible devices are assigned to the new customer.

Incompatible devices

The platform checks all devices for compatibility before migration. A Wialon Hosting unit is considered incompatible if its device model is not supported in Wialon Platform or if it doesn’t have a unique ID (IMEI).

If some devices can’t be transmitted, an error message appears in the Transmittable units column. Hover over the error icon to see the details.
